Saturday's Game at Trinity College Postponed

Westfield, MA --- The game between Westfield State and Trinity College on Saturday, December 3rd has been postponed due to rink availability in Hartford, CT. A make-up date will be announced at a later date. The Owls will return to action on Sunday for a 3 pm game against Sacred Heart University. It will be the last game of the semester before winter break.

Westfield Sink Anchormen 4-1

Pawtucket, RI -- Westfield State's only game of the weekend came on Friday night as they traveled to face Rhode Island College. The Owls would strike first on a power play goal by Captain, Connor Sweeney. Brian Bassett would get another goal before the end of the first period and Westfield would take a 2-0 lead.  Rhode Island College would get a power play goal of their own with under two minutes remaining in the second period. A tip shot from the point would beat Owls netminder Nate Maillet. 

Maillet would make several saves early on in the third period to keep it a one goal game and eventually recorded his fourth win of the season. Nick Sibilia would give Westfield an insurance goal with an empty net goal late in the third. Connor Sweeney would finish the scoring, scoring his second goal of the game, with the goalie back in the net for the Anchormen. 

Westfield will head into the Thanksgiving break in fourth place in the South Division. They return to action on December 3rd and 4th with league games against Trinity College and Sacred Heart University. The Owls would like to wish their friends and families a Happy Thanksgiving.

Westfield Falls to Cadets, Pioneers

Westfield, MA -- The Owls dropped a pair of tough games this past weekend. On Friday afternoon they fell to Norwich University 5-3 in their fourth annual Veteran's Day game. Brian Bassett, Danny Hamilton and Tim Rheault would score for the Owls.

On Saturday night, the team traveled to Bridgeport, CT to face division rival Sacred Heart University. Westfield would take a 4-3 lead into the third period, but the Pioneers would score three unanswered goals for a 7-4 final. Connor Sweeney, Nick Sibilia, Joe Santaniello and Matt Arena each tallied a goal.

Westfield returns to action Friday, as they travel to Pawtucket, RI to face Rhode Island College before heading off for Thanksgiving break.

Westfield Beats Wildcats 5-2

Westfield, MA -- Westfield State opened up a string of three straight non-conference games on Saturday night when they hosted the University of New Hampshire. Westfield opened the scoring in the first by jumping out to a 3-0 after 20 minutes. Goals were scored by Danny Hamilton, Mike LaManna and Brian Bassett. After what looked like a harmless play, the Owls found themselves short-handed for 5 minutes. The Wildcats would use the major penalty and another minor penalty to cut the lead to 3-2. 

Tommy Burgess would score his first as an Owl with 4:53 remaining in the game to give Westfield a much needed insurance goal. Joe Santaniello would add another goal a minute later to secure the 5-2 victory for the Owls. 

Westfield will host Springfield College tomorrow at the MassMutual Center. You must have a Springfield Thunderbirds ticket to get into the game. Puck drop is at 2 pm.

All fans looking to attend the Westfield State vs Springfield College game at the MassMutual Center MUST have a ticket to the Thunderbirds game after.
