2016-2017 Season Update

Westfield, MA -- In two months, the Owls will be opening up their 2016-17 season with a preseason game against University of Connecticut (B).  The final details on the schedule, along with the University Cup tournament, are being ironed out and the team will hopefully have more information by next week.

Classes begin for students on September 7th and there will be a lot going on before the first puck drop. Interested players should contact Coach Lachance by email at mmjl87@gmail.com so that they can receive the latest information about the mandatory player interest meeting and try out dates. Players should come to school with CURRENT physicals stating they can participate in physical activity AND their hockey equipment. The team captain will be named within the next month and off-ice workouts and Captain's Ice will be held before try outs begin.

The team will play one or two preseason games to go with an 18 game schedule. Twelve of those contests will be divisional games which count towards playoff standings. Joining the Owls in the American Conference's Southwest Division will be Bridgewater State, Eastern Connecticut State University, Sacred Heart University, Rhode Island College, Roger Williams University and newcomer Trinity College. All teams are eligible for playoffs this season with the top four earning playoff spots. Once again, NECHA will have quarterfinal playoff games in the division (1 hosts 4 & 2 hosts 3) before heading up to Nashua, NH for the remainder of the playoffs.
