Troy, NY - The Owls kicked off the 2015-16 season on Friday night with a 5-1 loss to the 10th ranked Engineers. Westfield controlled play in the first half of the period out shooting their opponents 10-9. However, RPI's senior captain Adam Hennick would score the lone goal in the opening stanza. Sloppy play by the Owls in the second led to 4 goals against as RPI would take a 5-0 lead heading into the final period. With 16:46 remaining in the game, John Galvin would break Liam McBain's shut out.
Westfield will travel to Newington, CT on Saturday to face 7th ranked Central Connecticut. It will be another tough non-league opponent before opening up their conference schedule October 10th versus UConn. Game time is set for 9pm with twitter updates available on @wsuclub .
