South Windsor, CT -- Westfield State defeated UConn on Saturday night by the score of 6-2. All the lines contributed to help the Owls get their first victory of the season. Billy Fellows, Alex Barattini, Kris Houda, Tim Doherty, Tommy Burgess and Brian Bassett all scored for Westfield.
After taking a 1-0 lead into the first intermission, UConn scored two quick power play goals to take their only lead of the afternoon. Alex Barattini found Kris Houda with 7 seconds left in the second period to give the Owls the eventual game-winning goal. Westfield controlled play in the third, adding three more goals, as they finish the preseason with a 1-0-0 record.
Westfield's next game is Friday night at RPI. On Saturday, the Owls will host Roger Williams in their home opener. It will also be the first conference game of the season.
