Westfield, MA --- It was the second game in as many nights with the final score of 5-3 but unfortunately the Owls dropped to 1-2-0 in the conference with a loss to Bridgewater State on Saturday. Westfield would get on the board first with 4:22 remaining when Scott Shannon managed to split the defense and score on short breakaway. Westfield would take the 1-0 lead going into the first break.
In the second period, the Bears had a quick start. Mason Yates and Cam Miglietta would strike 9 seconds apart to give Bridgewater State a 2-1 lead only 28 seconds into the second period. At the 17 minute mark, Colin Pierce would tie the game at two apiece. Steve Evans won the faceoff to himself and found a wide open Pierce right on top of the crease who put the puck into the empty net. However, 53 seconds later, Bridgewater would regain their lead with a goal by AJ Glenn. Nick Rose would pick up a power play goal off a rebound from Connor Sweeney’s shot from the point to make the score 3-3 going into the final period. In the third, Bridgewater would score two goals midway through and would secure their first conference victory of the season.

Westfield will look to rebound on Saturday when they host Sacred Heart University at Amelia Park at 5pm. It will be their first of two games this season between the two teams. The teams last met last year in the American Conference’s Championship game.
